My Mom, Mother and Friend

I’d like to tell you about my Mom. She’s pretty amazing and if you don’t know her you should. Why do I feel so grateful? I’ll tell you….
All my childhood I used to hear people always talk about this amazingly supernatural connection that mother’s had with their children after child birth. This unreal connection that only a mother who has given birth could know. I was jealous, spiteful and felt completely inadequate as a child. Like I had cheated my mom out of some super great connection that only biological children could have with their mothers.
In my more recent years, I have come to learn that that connection may be true, but my connection with my mother extends way beyond the umbilical cord. You see, my mother and I are connected through something far more amazing and something that has continued throughout my life, that is God.
My mother always calls me when I need her the most and when I am unable to make that attempt. When I’m depressed, sad, or in need of love. She always calls me at the darkest of my moments and always tells me that I have just had this feeling I needed to call you. I call that a God Consciousness. That connection is so amazingly strong that I no longer feel that it is necessary for biological birthing to mean that a child can be connected to their mother.
My mother has saved my life. Adoption was the first and as the years have progressed many more times over.
My mother is also a great example in being the most amazing woman I have ever met, because she has struggled with issues of her own, but always makes time for those she loves. Her sister, husband, family, brothers, friends. She has been given some hardships, but always stays close to her belief in God. Though our idea of God don’t seem to be the same, I know that her God and my God must be pretty good friends, because they keep the connection between us pretty strong.
I know this may sound a little off the deep end, but I just wanted to let you know how much I love my mother. She’s the best mom I could have ever been given. I thank God for giving me someone so fantastic as her.
If you’re reading this mom. I love you and always will.
Wade.
